Finding the Ideal Gift

Why sea glass jewellery is a perfect present.

It is that time of year again when we are all searching for the perfect gift for our loved ones. A piece of sea glass jewellery is more than just a beautiful, thoughtful gift, it is also tells a story. The story of each piece of sea glass is shaped by the sea over time. At Cerrig Môr our sea glass is collected from our local beaches in West Wales, selected pieces are then carefully hand-crafted into individual pieces of jewellery.

What is Sea Glass Jewellery?

Sea glass is a beautiful, naturally occurring material created from discarded glass that has been weathered and smoothed by the ocean's waves and tides. It often originates from broken bottles, jars, and other glass items that have been carelessly thrown into the sea. Over time, the relentless action of the salt water and sand transforms these sharp pieces into smooth, frosted gems, each one unique in colour and shape. When it comes to sea glass jewellery, artisans meticulously collect these treasures from shores, clean them, and often use them in their designs, celebrating the natural beauty and history of the glass. The result is a collection of stunning, eco-friendly jewellery that captures the essence of the ocean, making each piece a wearable reminder of nature's artistry.

Why does Sea Glass Jewellery Make an Ideal Gift?

Gifting a piece of sea glass jewellery often evokes emotion. It can stir memories of visits to the coast, family trips to the beach, childhood memories of holidays or romantic walks along the sand. It is an individual gift that connects us to the sea. Each piece of sea glass is unique in its shape, colour and form, making every piece of jewellery a one-off item. Sea glass can be found in a variety of hues from dark olive greens to delicate blues, even reds and yellows. You are sure to find a piece to match every occasion. Sea glass is naturally recycled, making it a sustainable, eco-friendly option for a gift.

Sea Glass Jewellery at Cerrig Môr

Our sea glass jewellery is made by hand in our West Wales studio. We collect all our sea glass from our local Welsh beaches, mostly in Ceredigion. We then carefully sort and select the glass to be used in our jewellery making. The selected pieces are gently washed, and sometimes oiled, before being set into sterling silver. Our product range is available to purchase from the Cerrig Môr online shop. Each  jewellery purchase is carefully packaged before being sent to our customers.

Whether you are buying a gift for someone special or treating yourself, we hope our jewellery will  bring you a bit of magic from the seas of West Wales when you wear it.
